A proficiency test is formed by a set of laboratories that must analyze several times a year, identical samples provided by the organizing entity. The Fuels Laboratory participate annually in international proficiency tests in order to:
- Check the imprecision of the results obtained with the analytical methods used in the laboratory itself.
- Compare the inaccuracy of the analytical methods themselves with those of other participants.
- Support external quality control.
